A young Ghanaian woman named Selina Adu Gyamfi is now facing motherhood alone after her Chinese boyfriend, who worked in Abodom, Asante Bekwai, left the country without her knowing she was pregnant.
Speaking emotionally on Adom FM, she said, “He told me he loved me. He used to give me 1,000 cedis a week or sometimes 500 cedis every three days.” According to her, the man, identified only as Leon, was among a group of Chinese nationals who came to the area for galamsey (illegal mining)
“I had a relationship with one of them called Leon. When they were leaving, I didn’t know I was pregnant,” she added.

Now with a baby girl by her side, she’s desperately searching for Leon, hoping to reconnect and possibly get support for their child.
This story highlights the hidden realities and emotional aftermath some women face after relationships with foreign workers, especially in mining communities.
